Annulment

On occasion nullity may be an alternative to a divorce. This is where the court will deem the marriage as void therefore, it will be classed as though it did not take place. The advantage of annulling a marriage is that it can be carried out within the first year of marriage. You cannot start divorce proceedings until you have been married for one year. Annulment is only available in very limited circumstances and we will discuss with you if it is an option.
